First Rule Of Book Club: Challenge Yourself
I love to read! I’ve been part of the same book circle for 5 years. Over the years the group has grown or shrunk depending. It’s one of my highlights of my month. This fabulous group of women gets together to eat, drink, and share each other’s lives. Oh! And yes, there is a book involved! The book we discussed last session was one I strongly recommend all women to read no matter what phase of life you are in or what job you hold. The book is Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg. The book discusses Sheryl’s perspective about women, work, and our society’s views about both. Nights like those energize me. We didn’t all agree, but we all respected and listened to the others thoughts. I re-thought some things and changed my viewpoints about others. I guess my take away from all this is was to remind myself to find ways to challenge myself whether intellectually or physically, always be challenged. Also, cherish the friendships you have!
