I usually don’t listen to music when I practice Pilates because I’m focused on polishing up my technique and making sure my alignment is spot-on. However, I’ll get my music fix when I do strength training, yoga, or running workouts — and when I do, here’s my go-to playlist.
There’s something about electronic music that ups my motivation to keep moving, so I have included variety of songs that have strong and steady beats designed to help you set your pace, and keep your flow.
I’ll start my workout with a warm-up and a leisurely upbeat song such as “Sunday” by Max Manie which acts as a great complement to my foam-rolling and mobility drills. Following the warm-up, I’ll jump right into the bulk of my workout with faster and more lively electronic songs such as "Red Lights” by Tiesto and “This is What it Feels Like” by Armin van Buuren. One of my favorite songs “Sanctuary” by Gareth Emery, is a great song for a tempo run or a faster-paced workout because the rhythm is strong but also tranquil which keeps you working (almost) effortlessly in that “comfortably hard” zone. I’ll usually wrap up my workout with a few slower tempo songs such as “Here with Me” by Susie Suh and “Stay Alive” by Jose Gonzalez for either a cool-down walk, a long stretching session, or embracing that well-deserved savasana.
