Running Lessons Well Learned

It's been a great season and as it comes to a close I am thinking about all I learned this year about the sport and running. First to be successful as an athlete you need to love it.  And to train well you need to be fully recovered. As an older athlete I think I use to push myself to get workouts in, use an oxygen tent, get a massage, do Pilates, etc. When I cleaned my schedule, stopped all this activity, reduced my miles and the number of workouts; I actually ran better. Consider this, last year I ran 90 miles a week or more, ran twice a day, slept in an oxygen deprivation tent, and did three hard workouts a week. This year I ran 80 miles a week, ran once a day, slept outside the tent. I set an American master record, set a pr in half marathon, qualified for trials and was top us master in my age group. It worked
