To Market, To Market

To Market, To Market

When moving to a new city, I have found that finding some sort of ritual helps to lessen the blow of not knowing much of anything or anyone. On this specific move to Los Angeles I was lucky enough to have my brother already living in town to show me a bit of the ropes…but when he was working, I had to find something to do! One ritual that never fails me is attending the local Farmer’s Market. Lucky for us La La Land inhabitants, there is a market almost every day of the week in one neighborhood or another! So far I would have to say my favorite is the Santa Monica market that takes place every Wednesday from 8.30am until 1.30pm. This diverse and colorful market offers all the best fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, plants, beeswax, flowers, lotion made by maybe the sweetest Rasta man ever, and much, much more! Even for people who aren’t new to the LA area, the Farmer’s Market has been and always will be a great place to feel like you are part of a community. Any time I’m feeling lonely, bored, hungry, or just want to people watch, I throw on my Splits59 Dusty ¾ Tights, my Ashby Ribbed Tank and park just far enough away from the market that I get a nice walk in – with views of the beach – before I hit the market. For those of you yet to experience this market, I highly suggest a bag of almonds from the Stackhouse Bros. Harvesting stand (I like the roasted, unsalted) and if you’re looking for exotic mushrooms, check out Mello Mushrooms - but make sure to get to the market early so they don’t sell out!

Enjoy!
