One of my new favorite superfoods is beets! Fresh pressed beet juice has traditionally been used to help with anemia, fatigue, skin problems, weight loss problems and much more! Beets are probably one of the most powerful vegetables available as it naturally cleanses the blood and kidneys. Beet juice is also a great fitness elixir because of the nitrates that oxygenate the body! People who consume beets regularly are able to to workout longer and harder before reaching exhaustion! One of my favorite kitchen items is my omega juicer -- which is awesome for juicing beets, celery, wheatgrass, fruit, leafy greens, etc. If you have one, make sure to whip up this nutrient dense, detoxifying concoction:
4 medium sized beets (red or yellow) with green stems
1 apple (include core & skin)
Handful of kale, spinach or parsley
Fresh pressed juice can be energizing after a workout and supplies your muscles with all nutrition lost.
Here is another favorite of mine:
4-6 leaves of kale
2-3 leaves of swiss chard
2-3 stalks of celery
1/4 of cucumber
Enjoy the massive nutrition this juice will provide. Water, simple sugars, amino acids, electrolytes, and tremendous alkalinity which is another important element to helping you recover faster!
